2019 Volunteer Opportunities!
Community Garden Clean up and Planting

Raised beds! Build raised beds using upcycled/recycled materials that might otherwise end up in a landfill. Bed sizes 2×2 and up are helpful as we provide garden areas to grow food for local food banks. Check out this link for 59 DIY Raised Garden Bed Ideas:
No Sew T-shirt bags
Make a no sew t shirt bag in under 10 minutes! T-shirt bags are ideal ways to upcycle old material you can’t use in your wardrobe and offer the opportunity to end single use plastic bags that harm the environment and local wildlife. Drop off your creations at your local food bank.
Gather lumber! We can use anything over 24 inches to build raised beds with our volunteers. Visit your local construction sites, speak to the manager on duty and ask for scrap materials. You’ll save the company in dump fees and provide a great resource for our gardens!
Collect organic seeds! We give tens of thousands of seeds away annually for the Plant A Row Program in partnership with the Snohomish Conservation District. Talk to local seed companies, big box stores, nurseries and garden clubs. We’ll use those seeds to grow food for food banks. Through Project Harvest and gleaning events with the Snohomish Conservation District, 19,386lbs of food was donated in 2018. We can’t wait to see what grows in 2019! Coming Spring 2019
Mother Nature is ALWAYS in charge of planting season and she’s in no mood to stop raining and warm up the soil. We need a sustained soil temperature of 55 degrees for fragile seeds and seedlings.
We look forward to organizing a volunteer planting event at Eagle Ridge Community Garden and Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County Community Garden as soon as the weather warms up a bit more.
Volunteer Opportunities are available to everyone at every interest level, no experience needed, all ages welcome!
Dress for weather, refreshments provided!
Bring gloves and wear boots or shoes that WILL get dirty.

Plan a company work group! Building and filling raised beds is the biggest job there is to give a boost to what we can do as a community. Handy or not, we need you!
Looking to gather a large group to complete community service hours? Need hours for school? We can provide them!
Want to schedule classes on creating edible landscapes, building raised beds, healthy soil, water conservation, building rain barrels and more? We can help with that too!
Garden Work Groups can:
- Plan the common area garden beds: obtain/purchase seeds, layout, and rotation.
- Prepare common area beds for planting: compost, soil, fertilizer, etc.
- Grow: plant, water, fertilize, control pests, weed beds, and add row covers.
- Harvest: weekly, taking produce to Food Banks.
Receipts for weight is needed to track our mission, please collect one with every donation.
Lake Stevens Community Food Bank distribution day is Thursdays 1:30pm to 6pm at Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
